Hello ARES Friends:
April 09th. WX test went well ARES had 11 QNI for this test that was at 10:21 A.M. on Wednesday morning. There was three counties that participated in this exercise. Adams, Buffalo, and Dawson County. Thanks everyone for your time on this important alert training. In the event that sever WX comes into Buffalo Co. we will be ready to do some WX spotting and report the weather to Buffalo Co. EM office and the NWS in Hastings.

On April 8th. our web page went off the air for some new up dates and things. ARES is sorry for the inconvenience this may of coursed the members and amateurs radio operator on getting information. We will be on the air with new technology, we have had this web page for close to 5 years and is up dated the first of each month. We have a new address that is wwwbcares.info If you would like to help and have some news let us know at ka0dbk@arrl.net by the 25th. of the month so we can get your news on the page. Field day 2008:
June 28th. an 29th. will be the busiest week end in a lot of amateur radio communities again this year. The Buffalo County ARES will be holding its field day week end again this year at the Buffalo County fair ground, like we did last year. If you would like to get on the air stop by. We will have a GOTA station so you may do that. It is a lot of fun doing a event like this but it is a lot of work also. This year I think it will be a better Field day event. There are a lot of people helping and this makes it more fun and easier on everyone. Come on out and see what ARES is doing this year. We will have 4 H F stations on the air, and a lot of fun.
For the evening meal on Saturday everyone bring a cover dish,table service and your meal of your choice, hamburger,hot dogs, or steak, we will have a grill to cook on and we are in business for the evening. Hope to see everyone there this year.

Two Big ARES Summer training Drills:
This summer on July 19th. around 9:00 A.M. to around 1:00 P.M. A possible alert for ARES and other amateur radio Clubs will be helping with a 15 county Emergency exercise. We don't have any information to give you at this time on this alert.
Some time in the late fall of 08 or next year 09 there will be a BIG DRILL and ARES will be involved also. This may need around 15 to 25 amateur radio operator also. ARES will need your help. There will be around 12 different agencies that will need some kind of communications for this event. We may need 2 or 3 repeaters and some simplex freq. to do this. Mobile radios ,HT, and extra Mag antennas any thing you might think you need for this drill bring it with you, and extra batteries. They will test us tell we fail, we don't want amateur radio to do this. We will all work together to be the communication they think we are. This will be a big one for amateur radio. Before the drill we will have a table top drill for the EC and AEC so we know what might take place. These two Emergency drills will be in this area of Nebraska and Buffalo County, if you would like to help let me know at ka0dbk@arrl.net so we know who is coming. This will be a very good training for mutual aid ARES groups in this part of Nebraska. Plan to help and get your training for your ARES and help your state of Nebraska also.We will do this drill like it was a real thing using EC and AEC as your leaders for this training drill.

Buffalo Co. ARES Net:
As you all know Monday night at 8:30 P.M the Buffalo County ARES has its weekly net on the KCØWZL repeater 145.235 - PL 123.0 Matt Emel WØWFM is the regular NCS. We have been averaging 10 to 12 QNI each week. When we started we was some times have 3 or 4. Thanks everyone for your time each week. The back up repeater is KAØDBK 147.390 + PL 123.0 if needed. How do you like the reminder message you get on email ever Monday so you wont forget the net is tonight? If you don't get this message let me know and I will put you on the list. Or if you don't want a reminder let me know and I will remove your name from the weekly list. You may send your comments to ka0dbk@arrl.net We can always use some more NCS. If you would like to be a NCS let us know and we will get you the information for this net. You may let us know when you are on the net also.

First WX alert for 2008:
On April 24th. we had our first storm alert for this year. 6 counties were on hand to give reports if needed for the NWS. There was 15 ARES personal that was also on hand. Thanks everyone for your time and help on this. We especially thank the hams in the Harlan Co. and Phillips Co. area for your reports. Keep up the good work.
